Dial: Silvered pie-pan dial, sunburst finish, applied faceted hour markers with luminous dots, luminous hands. Movement: Automatic. Over the years, many variations of the Constellation were produced. Particularly striking among the different models are the pie pan dials dating from the 1950s and 1960s. In addition to the extreme depth created by the pie pan effect, the watches impress with beautiful, bold details and dial variations. This Constellation features distinctive faceted hour markers and a shimmering raised frame around the dial. Since 1952, the Constellation wrist chronometers have stood at the very pinnacle of the Omega collection in terms of luxury and prestige. In astronomy, a constellation is a group of stars whose movement across the celestial sphere is consistent and predictable, reminiscent of the movement of a watch. In watchmaking at Omega, Constellation stands for craftsmanship and the highest level of perfection in a watch, for precision and top performance of the movement, and for elegant design and superior cases. The name “Constellation” is highlighted by a small applied gold star on the dial. The medallion on the case back depicts an observatory surrounded by eight stars, representing Omega’s greatest achievements in chronometer tests, such as the famous world records set in 1933 and 1936 at Kew-Teddington.
