John Kentish Junior - Gerd Ahrens Collection An important and highly ornamental London gold enamel pocket watch with central seconds and a "Sun & Planet" power reserve mechanism by John Kentish Movement No. 1224, Case No. 1224, Dimensions 59 mm, circa 1765, Weight 158 g, Origin: England Case: 18K gold, lavishly engraved and featuring multicolored floral enamel work, case maker’s punch mark “PM,” locking mechanism set with a blue sapphire, reverse side featuring an oval enamel medallion on a brown background in “grisaille” painting, signed protective cap. Dial: Enamel. Movement: Full-plate movement, chain/fusee, cylinder escapement, three-arm steel balance wheel, planetary gearing for constant force. John Kentish Junior, in partnership with John Adam Mangaar and William Allan, specialized in the production of exceptional watches. Only six of his watches are known to exist. This watch was part of the famous Ahrens collection. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movement: very good, in working order, cleaning recommended.
