Breguet - Classique Tourbillon A very elegant neo-vintage wristwatch with a one-minute tourbillon Movement No. 237, Ref. 3357, Cal. 558, Case No. 3255A, Dimensions 36 mm, circa 1991, Origin: Switzerland, Original box, Accessories, original gold clasp Case: 18K gold, glazed push-back, fluted case band. Dial: Two-tone silvered, guilloché pattern. Movement: Manual-winding. The hand-engraved movement is inscribed with “7 Messidor An 9,” which corresponds to June 26, 1801, in the Gregorian calendar. This is the date on which Abraham Louis Breguet received the patent for his tourbillon, which he had developed and worked on tirelessly for over 10 years. Even today, the tourbillon regulator is regarded as a technical masterpiece produced only by the most accomplished watchmakers. The tourbillon regulator was first used in a Breguet wristwatch in 1988. Even before he established his own manufactory, Daniel Roth—one of the most gifted watchmakers of his time—was tasked with reviving the Breguet brand. Roth conducted extensive and meticulous research on Breguet timepieces, which led to the development of the breathtaking tourbillon wristwatch, reference 3350. This watch features all the classic Breguet elements, such as the eponymous hands, the guilloché pattern on the dial, and the fluted bezel. In the 1990s, Breguet launched another masterpiece, the tourbillon reference 3357, featuring the same tried-and-true caliber 558 designed by Daniel Roth. The timepiece has a large opening for the tourbillon cage in the lower part of the dial and an offset hour and minute display in the upper half. The visible plate is finely hand-engraved with intricate tendril ornamentation that is repeated on the back and can be admired through the crystal pressure back. The watch has been well cared for and shows only the slightest signs of wear. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movement: very good, in working order, cleaning recommended.
