The painting is mounted on a paper backing, which is in turn mounted on canvas stretched over a wooden frame. 295.00 x 116.00 cm, including frame Huang Gongwang is one of the most influential artists in the entire history of Chinese landscape painting and one of the Four Masters of the Yuan Dynasty (1279–1368), whose unmistakable style attracted numerous followers in the centuries to come. The letter accompanying the painting, written by the National Palace Museum in Taipei and dated July 14, 1979, documents the numerous seals, two of which have been identified as belonging to well-known collectors who lived in the first half of the 19th century, and one to a collector from the early Qing dynasty.
