1503. BOOK. (GOTHIC-POST-INCUNABULUM). RODERICO DE SANCTA ELLA:. SACERDOTALIS INSTRUCTIO CIRCA MISSAM. Lugruñij [Logroño]: Published and printed by Master Arnaldiguillermi de Brocario, March 21, 1503. 8vo. Unpaginated and unfoliated edition, signed a8-b4. At the end is the printer’s woodcut, with a small loss in one corner. Woodcut initials with a black background, typical of this printer. The half-title page bears the title and the author’s name, as well as two woodcuts depicting the Crucifixion and the Flagellation; it is a clear example of the transition that was beginning at that time toward the title page format that would later become widespread in all printing houses and take on a more canonical form, although it still includes the colophon at the end with the printing details. Bound in half-leather, with fabric panels featuring silver lettering, from the late 19th century. Contemporary handwritten annotations on the verso of the last leaf and a later annotation by an inquisitor who owned the work (17th century). CCPB 9698-9 lists only two copies in Spain. Norton, 370.
