LARGE ENAMEL ADVERTISING SIGN FOR THE FORMER HOTEL KOSSENHASCHCHEN IN ERFURT probably dating from the 1920s to the 1940s 60 x 100 cm The hotel owned by hospitality entrepreneur Georg Kossenhaschen was considered the premier establishment in Erfurt and ranked among Europe’s leading hotels. The Palast-Café opened on the ground floor in 1923. Despite their location right next to the railway station, the buildings survived the Second World War unscathed. In 1948, both hotels were renamed the "Erfurter Hof, " expropriated, and transferred to state ownership. The Erfurter Hof gained international renown in 1970 when it hosted the first summit meeting between East and West Germany—specifically between Willy Brandt and Willi Stoph. The sign can not be packed and shipped through our auction house.
