CINE (Council on International Nontheatrical Events). Wood and paper award plaque, 1976, presented to writer Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006) for the motion picture Treasure Dive featured on the television program The American Sportsman. Marked with a printed signature in the lower right corner. 16" H x 13" W x 3/4" D. Presented to Peter Benchley in 1976 for Treasure Dive, an underwater adventure featured on ABC's acclaimed television series The American Sportsman. Filmed in Bermuda, the episode follows Benchley as he explores historic shipwrecks in search of underwater treasures. The adventure closely parallels his bestselling novel The Deep (1976), adapted into a major motion picture in 1977. Presented by the Council on International Nontheatrical Events (CINE), the prestigious Golden Eagle Award recognized excellence in American film and television production. From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation. Proceeds from the Peter Benchley Collection will benefit five ocean conservation organizations: Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, WildAid, Beneath the Waves, Blue Frontier and Environmental Defense Fund. CONDITION: The paper award document exhibits overall toning and significant foxing throughout the surface. There is a small white scuff or chip along the top center edge of the wood plaque. The verso shows light surface wear consistent with age and wall mounting. NOTICE TO BIDDERS: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Photos are considered part of the condition report. Complete condition information is available by request, please request no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Willow Auctions will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated.
