Two color production photographs featuring cast members from The Deep (Columbia, 1977). The portrait-oriented photograph depicts Peter Benchley working alongside the cast and crew. The landscape-oriented photograph is a close-up portrait of Jacqueline Bisset depicting the character Gail Berke. Largest frame: 9 7/8 x 12 3/8 x 3/4 in. The first still is of a scene that never made the movie: Peter on the deck of the ship as it goes down, which he had enormous fun filming. The filming crew shot it in cinema verite style on a full-size bow built for the production, with real wind, real rain and real seawater slamming the windows. The second still shows Jacqueline Bisset, who courageously learned to dive for the film and whom Peter and Wendy found warm, smart, and dedicated. From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation. Proceeds from the Peter Benchley Collection will benefit five ocean conservation organizations: Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, WildAid, Beneath the Waves, Blue Frontier and Environmental Defense Fund. CONDITION: Minor aging with slight color shifting toward red and cyan throughout (photo 1). There is a small vertical mark or piece of debris visible near the top center edge of the Ali MacGraw photograph (photo 6). Both frames show light surface scuffing and minor wear to the chrome finish (photo 7). NOTICE TO BIDDERS: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Photos are considered part of the condition report. Complete condition information is available by request, please request no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Willow Auctions will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated.
