A souvenir ceramic coffee mug produced for San Diego Shark Diving. A small white adhesive label is applied to the side and the base, both reading #15 Wendy Benchley. 3 3/4" H x 3 1/4" diameter. Each of these was sent to Peter by a fan or a publisher over the years. For the novel mug in Lot 157, pour in hot water and watch what happens to the color of the water. From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation. Proceeds from the Peter Benchley Collection will benefit five ocean conservation organizations: Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, WildAid, Beneath the Waves, Blue Frontier and Environmental Defense Fund. CONDITION: The interior base shows visible dark staining and minor pitting from use. The exterior graphic displays light surface scuffs and minor scratches. The unglazed foot ring exhibits shelf wear and minor discoloration. Adhesive residue is present from the application of name labels.
