MICHAEL TRIEGEL (born 1968 in Erfurt, based in Leipzig) Primroses, 2023 Egg tempera on paper. 36 x 50 cm. Framed under glass with a mat. Monogrammed lower right. Catalog No.: Z 23_03 The 2023 work “Primroses” depicts a densely clustered primrose bush with yellow flowers against a light, largely untreated background. The plant is positioned slightly to the right and stands out clearly against the background. The flowers display warm shades of yellow and orange that contrast with the rich green of the leaves. Finely rendered leaf structures and visible roots lend the depiction a high degree of realism. In the left foreground lies a single flower that complements the subject and calmly balances the composition. The painting focuses on the precise depiction of the plant and avoids narrative or symbolic exaggerations. Within Triegel’s body of work, this piece exemplifies his ongoing engagement with natural motifs and his clear, understated approach to painting.
