Kneeling worshipper. Wood covered with white clay, with an antique patina and signs of age. Jumla region, western Nepal. H. 60 × W. 19 × D. 25 cm. Provenance: Renaud Vanuxem, Paris. Publication: Éric Chazot, Liliane and Michel Durand-Dessert, *Himalayas – Art & Shamans*, Paris, LMDD, 2009, Volume I, no. 93. Kneeling in a posture that is both natural and suspended, this youthful figure appears to be captured in the act of making an offering. The slight tilt of the head, the movement of the legs, and the gentle expression on the face give this sculpture a presence full of restraint, like a being filled with gratitude toward the deity who has bestowed blessings upon him.
