Rare pair of percussion pistols given by the Royal Prince, Ferdinand Philippe d'Orléans: Flattened, superimposed, blunderbuss barrels in tobacco-colored ribbon damask, signed on the top of the first barrels, in gold letters: "LE PAGE ARQER DU ROI", then engraved: "Donné par le Prince Royal"; the lower barrels are hallmarked with thunderbolts, on each inclined side: "N. B" crowned; brass-tipped wooden ramrods are fixed below the barrels; length 19.2 cm, inside width at muzzles 42 mm, height 16.5 mm. Breech shrouds in mirror-polished steel, engraved with foliage and lightning bolts. Small rear locks following the shape of the stocks, engraved with foliage and signed in gold letters: "LE PAGE A PARIS"; hammers engraved with foliage scrolls and lightning bolts; insides of the locks numbered: "3306" and dated: "A 1831" (same marking on the inside of the breech shanks); single-stage. Engraved iron bridges. Round, checkered walnut stocks without caps. Total length 33 cm. Louis-Philippe period. Very good condition. The Royal Prince: Ferdinand Philippe d'Orléans, eldest son of Louis-Philippe, Duc de Chartre, then Duc d'Orléans in 1830 and Royal Prince of France (1810/1842).
