Collection of amulets and gems, late period and later, 6th century BC - 19th century AD Small collection of antique gems (10), Roman and Sasanian, including a Sasanian globular seal with griffin (ø 14mm), a Sasanian carnelian with stag (ø 12mm), a Roman chalcedony with enthroned Zeus (ø 14mm). 12 North African faience amulets, including three scarabs and a particularly fine amulet with a seated Horus (h 2.7cm). Predominantly late period, some possibly post antique. Four of them with a slip from "Ding Dong Bazaar Bassili Tawadros, Cairo". Also a carnelian heart pendant, a millefiori glass fragment, an Asian lead object and two modern coins. 27 pieces! Provenance: Private property L.P., Lower Rhine, since before 1980.

Collection of amulet pendants. 3rd - 2nd mill. bc. a) Limestone amulet: three stylized turtle heads with circular eyes joined together in the shape of a triangle. W 3.5 cm. Uruk, Djemdet Nasr period, ca. 3300 - 2900 B.C. b) Rectangular limestone amulet with incised decoration and a longitudinal hole in the shape of a temple door. Canaanite, late 2nd millennium BC. H 4cm, W 3cm. c) Cylindrical alabaster pendant with bull's head ends. Mesopotamia, Early Dynastic, 2900 - 2350 BC.11.5cm. 3 pieces! Each with rubbed surface. Provenance: Ex collection Jean-Philippe Mariaud de Serres, Paris, before 2000.
