Description
VP HONDA Body : CI Type serial number: 1001860 DMEC: 24/05/1967 Energy : ES Power : 5 Mileage : 42634 Color : ROUGE Number of seats : 2 Honda S800. 42634 kms on the odometer - Chassis no.: 1001860 - Engine no.: 1002837 - 1st registration 24/05/1967 - French collector's registration document. This Honda S800 was acquired by its owner in 1983, an enthusiast of the model, bought in memory of the car of his youth, an identical but yellow model. At the time, in used condition but in need of some work, this car patiently awaited a meticulous restoration which began in the early 90s and continued until 1998. The body was completely dismantled and stripped to bare metal for a complete overhaul on a very sound base, and a polished-lustre paint was carefully applied to achieve the brilliant red that has stood the test of time magnificently. Slight localized blistering can be seen at the bottom of the front fenders and on the left roof gutter. There's also a slight crack on the front hood. The mechanics have been completely overhauled: the original engine, too badly damaged for a proper overhaul, has been replaced by an identical model, with all pistons and valves replaced, as well as gaskets and all wearing parts. The electrical system was also overhauled, with the complete wiring harness replaced by a new one from Honda. All parts purchase invoices were kept to support the work carried out. Particular attention was paid to the aesthetics of the engine bay, with many parts chromed and polished. To continue the care given to the mechanical restoration, the owner has since carried out an engine oil change every 1500kms, as well as replacing the fluids every year. As for the interior, it's also in excellent condition; the headliner was reworked during the restoration and the seats regularly serviced, leaving us with a beautiful patina. The instrumentation is complete, uniform and functional. Note the addition of a gearbox oil temperature gauge, a digital clock and discreet anti-theft switches. The steering wheel is not original. A steering column lock has also been installed. Today, this lovely sixties coupé is in excellent condition, the result of a top-quality restoration carried out by a model enthusiast who only owns this collector's car, an exclusive project designed to give it all the care it needs and perfect its condition. The Honda S800, with its atypical mechanics and insane charm, is a car that never ceases to seduce new enthusiasts. The one presented here is a unique opportunity to own an example that has been restored and maintained for 40 years, with no budget limit, by its owner, solely out of concern for the preservation of the model and in memory of his first S800.
