VIETNAM - RARE ROBE IMPÉRIALE
NGUYÊN dynasty (1802-1945), from the 1880s. Imperial style called "Dragon Dress" in red silk embroidered with gold and silver threads. This beautiful and rare dress is entirely dotted with numerous symbols and ideograms including ten dragons chasing the flaming pearl around an imposing central Dragon with five claws. It is lined inside with sky blue silk. Height: 115 cm - Width: 117 cm. Provenance: Acquired by Mr. Gilbert BOUVERET Director of the Bank of Indochina in Saigon from 1950 to 1958.
