ARCHEOLOGY. Small polished axe with straight edges. Grey flint. Small chip on edge. France, Normandy, Neolithic Inscription reading "Lecoq". L.: 7.3 cm. Norman prehistory from the Verneuil-sur-Avre region, from Abbé Lecoq, parish priest of Guiseniers in the Eure region and doctor of the Faculty of Medicine in Paris. Abbé Lecoq is best known for his excavations in the region in the 1860s (including a dolmen at Pont-Mort). His collection was also featured in a bulletin of the Société Préhistorique Française in 1914.

Inscription indicating "Saint Just" for the flint, "abbé Lecoq sainte Euvroul" for the bone. L.: 9, 13 and 15.5 cm. Norman prehistory from the Verneuil-sur-Avre region, from Abbé Lecoq, parish priest of Guiseniers in the Eure region and doctor of the Faculty of Medicine in Paris.
