Skirt of a wedding dress or Mantua embroidered in progress, England or Italy, 18th century, circa 1735-1740. Ivory silk satin embroidered in the past empiétant in polychrome silk of a beautiful Rococo decoration of shells and cornices supporting large vases with bouquets of carnations, acanthus flowers and foliage. Petticoat with flat bordered with a gilded system braid and applied on an apricot damask (superb condition). Dim : 88 x 270 cm Some parts not embroidered and probably intended to be covered with metallic threads gold or silver reveal the layout of the design to the poncif. The sudden disappearance of its owner could it explain that it remained unfinished, preserved flat and changed of affectation for a use in Antependium of church?...
