TEAPOT OF THE SERVICE OF THE KING LOUIS-PHILIPPE IN THE CASTLE OF EU Pestum teapot of 2nd size and its lid in porcelain, decorated on the upper edge of a frieze with pale green background decorated on each side of a cartouche with black background decorated with polychrome, the rest decorated with various friezes in gold, the handle and spout gilded with gold. Good good condition. Royal Manufacture of Sevres, 1847. Green manufacturing mark dated 1846, gold decoration mark with crowned LP figure dated 1847, red mark of the castle of Eu, mark of the painter I.G. and mark of the gilder Moyez. H. 15.5 cm. Provenance Service described as "pale green background, polychrome flower cartels on black background, central rosettes and ornaments printed in gold", ordered by King Louis-Philippe for the castle of Eu in January 1836 for 60 place settings, it will be increased several times in October 1842, August 1844, June 1847 and July 1848, before being delivered after the fall of the King to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March 1852. Paid out of his own personal coffers, the King did not count on his favorite summer residence that was the castle of Eu. One only has to compare the selling price of the plates of this service: 45 francs, the palm of the most expensive service in proportion. One it was found at the family table at the time of the stays of Orleans at the seaside, but it was also used but it was also used for official visits, such as those of Queen Victoria in 1843 and 1845.
