Date: c. 1712 Description: View of Winochs-Bergen, plan of the fortress from a bird's eye view. Peter Schenk the Elder was a German engraver and cartographer from Elberfeld, today part of Wuppertal. Around 1684 he moved to Amsterdam and became a pupil of Gerard Valck, specialised in mezzotint; he travelled to Leipzig and Berlin. Until his death in 1718/19 he published numerous maps and pictures. The sheet is slightly browned, with two vertical box pleats; margins just trimmed. The decorative sheet makes a very good impression.
