HALDENWANG (*1770) after WEHLE (*1778), Arcadian landscape, around 1800, Aquatint Christian Haldenwang (1770 Durlach - 1831 Rippoldsau) after Heinrich Theodor Wehle (1778 Forests - 1805 Bautzen): Arcadian landscape with cattle herder and temple, c. 1800, Aquatint Technique: Aquatint on Paper Inscription: At the lower part signed in the printing plate: "gezeichnet von Wehle / gestochen von C. Haldenwang / im Verlag von I. Velten in Carlsruhe.". Date: c. 1800 Description: After a model by the landscape artist Heinrich Theodor Wehle (1778 Förstgen - 1805 Bautzen). Idyllic landscape depiction of a park with a pond and a distant, antique-style temple reminiscent of the Pantheon in Rome. A shepherd with some cattle and a sheep can be seen in the foreground. Discolouration and pale foxing can be seen around the image. The sheet edges are uncut. The upper left corner of the sheet has a clear tear and traces of creasing.
