Date: 1860 Description: Full-length costume representation from a scene of the operetta "Orpheus in the Underworld" by Ludovic Halévy and Hector Crémieux to the music of Jacques Offenbach, first performed in October 1858. The roles of the two actors Wilhelm Knaack (1829 Rostock - 1894 Vienna) and Johann Nestroy (1801 Vienna - 1862 Graz) are shown, Nestroy in an elaborate fly costume as the transformed Jupiter who visits Eurydice in the underworld. Slightly stained throughout, tear in the white right margin, crease marks in the lower margin, vertical crease mark in the centre, small tear at the lower left leg of the figure dressed in red.
