BLASCHKE (*1770) after CATEL (*1778), Heroic Women and Goddesses, around 1800, Etching János Blaschke (1770 Bratislava - 1833 Vienna) after Franz Ludwig Catel (1778 Berlin - 1856 Rom): Sheet with 5 sheets with illustrations of heroic, strong women and goddesses, c. 1800, Etching Technique: Etching on Paper Inscription: Lower middle signed in the printing plate: "F. Catel del. | J Blaschke sc Vienna". Date: c. 1800 Description: Sheet top left shows a young family in a garden with a monument on which the sculpture of the Three Graces stands. Below inscribed with the first two verses from the poem 'Dignity of Women' by Friedrich Schiller. On the sheet in the centre a female deity with retinue flies over the vast land. Above right the title copperplate with a female heroine portrait to the work 'Attila. A dramatic poem by J. v. Kalchberg'. Leaves partly slightly discoloured due to age and lightly foxed. Sheet at upper left with waviness. Sheet in the centre with small notch at the right margin. Sheet lower left with stain lower left and sheet lower right with worm damage lower right.
