In the foreground a young woman has taken a seat in the barque, a hat covers her head. In her arm she holds a dog which, it seems, is looking anxiously in the direction of the viewers. Unlike in BONNARD's work, the female figure is depicted here in isolation; no other figures or the surrounding body of water are visible.
