H. SNYERS (*1612) after BLOEMAERT (*1601), Portrait of Abraham Blomaert, Copper engraving Hendrick Snyers (around 1612 - after 1647 ) after Hendrick Bloemaert (1601 - 1672 ): Portrait of the painter Abraham Blomaert from *Het Gulden Cabinet*, 17th century, Copper engraving Technique: Copper engraving on Paper Impression Quality: A good to very good print, deep black and clearly defined, with nuanced hatching. Date: 17th century Description: A portrait of the painter Abraham Blomaert as an elderly man, viewed in three-quarter profile after the left. The subject is wearing a large, pleated millstone collar and a dark, buttoned robe. His curly white hair and full beard emphasise his advanced age. His right hand holds a drawing pen or brush, the fingers slightly splayed. The modelling is achieved through delicate, finely graded cross-hatching; the background is structured by layers of horizontal lines. Below the illustration is a multi-line French caption containing the number, name, biographical details, and information about the publisher and engraver.
