As such, she accompanied her husband on diplomatic trips and had to take on numerous representative duties and attend social events herself. The unifying depiction of nature and older buildings and structures is considered an expression of Romanticism. With a romanticised view of the Middle Ages, this castle ruin is not only a real-life model but also a type of romantic castle. The well-preserved ruins stand exposed on a rocky outcrop and feature almost obligatory slender towers and pointed spires. The aforementioned nature, which occupies the foreground on the left and right, forms a picturesque frame that dissolves as we get closer.
