Date: 1839 Description: The drawing was created on a journey that took the English architect, cartographer, archaeological writer, art collector, numismatist and literary translator William Barnard Clarke to France between 1838 and 1839 and later on to Italy in 1839. In the view of the village in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, the characteristic 17th century bell gable of the 12th century Chapelle du Saint-Sépulcre in the right-hand half of the picture is particularly striking.
