Date: 1839 Description: With precision and sensitivity, the British architect depicts the remains of the fortifications on the hill of St Antoine in the town of Fréjus on the Côte d'Azur. The sheet was created on a journey that took the English architect, cartographer, archaeological writer, art collector, numismatist and literary translator William Barnard Clarke to France between 1838 and 1839 and later on to Italy in 1839.
