Voigtländer & Sohn, Braunschweig | Portrait Objektiv I No.6B Estimate: € 2,600–3,000 Year: 1893 SN: 43546 Condition: B+ English: The Portrait-Objective I No. 6B is a substantial large-format Petzval-type portrait lens with a focal length of approximately 306 mm. The lens measures about 21 cm in height, with a front element of approximately 8 cm diameter, and is fitted with a Waterhouse stop marked f/4. Voigtlander's Portrait-Objective series continued the tradition of the famous high-speed Petzval portrait lens introduced by the company in the 1840s. The No. 6B was intended for professional studio photography on large plates, combining high speed with the characteristic rendering of the classical Petzval design. A impressive example of a late 19th-century Voigtländer brass portrait lens in very fine condition, clean lenses with later front cap.
