KMZ | ZOLA С-387 KGB Spy Camera set Estimate: € 1,800–2,000 Year: 1982 SN: 82017 Condition: B+ English: Soviet special-purpose camera, developed for clandestine photography and surveillance by Soviet intelligence and security services (KGB) during the Cold War. The remarkable ZOLA represents an advanced generation of Soviet concealed cameras, featuring a highly sophisticated compact mechanical construction, an integrated (working) spring-driven film transport mechanism and specially designed interchangeable optical units allowing different observation and recording configurations. The camera is accompanied by three interchangeable optical units for two different viewing arrangements, including a special NK 3.5/75 mm lens no. 8787. Based on a substantially modified Soviet 35mm rangefinder camera design, the ZOLA was developed as specialised photographic equipment rather than for commercial distribution. Its distinctive construction and highly unusual optical accessories reflect the considerable technical sophistication of Soviet clandestine camera development.
