Die Liebesverkäuferin. Muschelkamee, die die Verkäuferin der Amoretten darstellt, als Brosche auf vergoldetem Metall gefasst. Französische Arbeit aus der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts. H. 4 – L. 5 cm. Die Szene ist inspiriert von einem berühmten antiken Fresko, das 1759 in Stabiae entdeckt wurde und im 18. Jahrhundert durch das Gemälde „La Marchande d’Amours“ von Joseph-Marie VIEN (1716–1809) bekannt wurde, und später durch die Flachreliefs des Bildhauers Bertel THORVALDSEN (1770–1844). Das Schmuckstück basiert auf einer Zeichnung von Carlo Nolli (1724–1770), die als Holzschnitt in „Le Antichità di Ercolano“, Band 3, 1762, abgebildet ist.
