Diese handkolorierte Aquatinta stammt aus dem Werk „Selections of the Ancient Costume of Great Britain and Ireland From the Seventh to the Sixteenth Century“ von Charles Hamilton Smith. Erschienen in London bei William Bulmer, 1814. Erstausgabe. Charles Smith Hamilton (1776–1859) war Soldat, Naturforscher und Hobbymaler, der mehrere eigene Werke verfasste und an vielen weiteren mitwirkte, darunter an Teilen von „The Naturalists Library“. Die abgebildeten Trachten werden oft an berühmten Königshäusern und Helden dargestellt, jeweils mit einer beschrifteten Beschreibung der Person und der Kleidung.
