BINÉTRUY, CHARLES Paris Title: Bronze Directoire Portal Pendulum Clock. Date: Ca. 1800. Material: Fire-gilded bronze, black marble. Measurement: 49 x 26 x 14 cm. Mark: Inscribed ‘Binétruy à Paris’ on the dial (Charles Binétruy, Tardy p. 58). Description: Rectangular base with four pillars supporting the cresting with a curved pediment. On top, finely chiselled and partially applied matt bronze mounts. The cylindrical clock case is adorned with rich drapery. Enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes. Along the edge ofthe dial runs the chapter ring for the date. Large, round 14-day pendulum movement with thread suspension, half-hour chime on a bell and date.
