FLANDERS Title: Woolen Tapestry with a Large Crest of the House of Wied and Runkel. Origin: 2nd quarter 16th c. Material: Wool and silk in polychromy. Measurement: 224 x 240 cm. Description: In the centre, the crest of the Houses of Wied and Runkel, framed by garlands, is set against a blue-green, partly faded ground, the pattern of which echoes that of Florentine velvet damask. Above the crest, an eagle on the left and a peacock on the right appear on the garland as heraldic motifs of the House of Wied.
