MEISSEN Title: Pair of Porcelain Tea Bowls and Saucers Featuring Scenes from a Shopping Trip. Date: Ca. 1730/1735. Material: Porcelain, enriched in colour and gold. Measurement: Height (tea bowls) 4 cm, Ø (tea bowls) 7 cm, Ø (saucer) 12 cm. Mark: Swords mark painted blue under glaze, partially gilder's mark on the side, potter’s mark (tea bowl) or incised mark (base of the bowl) in the footring, old trade labels. Description: Each consists of a small, bell-shaped body with a flared rim. It is accompanied by a matching lower bowl with a rising flange. The rims are adorned with a delicate gold-pointed border. Decorated with finely painted scenes of trade voyages in cartouches, framed by foliage, scrollwork and lustre fields. The base of the small bowl features Native American floral painting.
