DRESDEN Title: Walnut display Cabinet on a Stand. Date: Mid 18th c. Material: Walnut veneered and carved, partly gilt. The inside polychromed in Veronese green. Acromatic glass. Measurement: 242 x 133 x 42 cm. Description: The elegantly curved base, featuring a two-door front, rests on four short rocaille feet. The fitted frame features stylised, slender curves that overlap slightly at their ends. Together with the broken pediment, this lends the piece a very harmonious overall appearance. Between the base and the display cabinet top is a narrow, grooved plinth with two front-facing drawers. The display cabinet top features five custom-shaped shelves and a flared gable. The curved struts of the display cabinet doors are gilded and decorated with floral motifs, as are the mouldings on the sides of the top section. Literature: Haase, Gisela: Dresdner Möbel des 18.
