MEISSEN Title: Impressive Monumental Porcelain Snake Handle Vase with Delicate Painting. Date: 1924-1935. Designer: Model by Ernst August Leuteritz. Material: Porcelain, cobalt-blue ground, polychrome painting, enriched in gold. Measurement: Height ca. 76.5 cm. Mark: Swords mark painted blue under glaze, incised number, model number 'A 195' (incised). Description: A cobalt-blue, baluster-shaped body with a tapered neck, mounted on a tapered, fluted round foot in elaborate relief. On either side, two handles attached at the shoulders, each in the shape of two ascending snakes. In gold-framed quatrefoil reserves are magnificent depictions of Diana bathing and a still life with fruit and lobster, based on paintings by François Boucher and Cornelis de Heem respectively.
