OPULENT GEMSTONE-DIAMOND-NECKLACE Origin: Presumably Italy . Date: Ca. 1980. Material: 750/- yellow gold, tested. Weight: 208.5 g. Measurement: Inner diameter 11.0 x 12.9 cm. Diamonds: 20 brilliant-cut diamonds in total ca. 0.8 ct., I-J/SI. Gemstones: 84 round gemstones in cabochon-cut, presumably chrysoprase, Ø ca. 2.5–5.3 mm. Description: The necklace is semi-rigid and fits snugly around the neck. It can be opened at the sides using hinges. The lower section is richly decorated with curved, almost baroque-style ornaments. The stones are set within undulating, relief-like gold structures. The design becomes simpler towards the top.
