Date: 1922 Description: The portrait shows the famous Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) in a dark suit, sitting in an armchair. He has long, straight, dark hair and a distinctive moustache. His facial expression is thoughtful and serious, with his head tilted slightly to the left. The background is in warm, dark tones, which draws the focus to the man's face and clothing. The light source comes from the left, illuminating his face and creating soft shadows. Upper left edge with brownish smudges. Lower half of the sheet support with pitting, partially extending into the printing plate but outside of the actual portrait depiction. Right and left edge each with fold, presumably from stitching. Print itself in good condition, with well-preserved colours and smooth transitions.
