Date: 19th century Description: Half-length portrait of the Irish nobleman Augustus Frederick Fitzgerald, 3rd Duke of Leinster (1791-1874), facing left, looking towards the viewer. The Duke is wearing a dark suit with waistcoat, white shirt and bow tie. His full hair is combed back and his face is adorned with a thick beard. The minimalist vignette emphasises the dignity of the sitter. The Fitzgerald family coat of arms is depicted below the portrait. With clear lines and well-preserved printing ink, with even small, easily recognisable details. There is a tiny brown stain to the top right of the image.
