V. LENG (19th) after TERBURG (*1608), Boy with a dog, Lithography V Leng (19th century) after Gerhard Terburg (1608 - 1681 ): A boy flees his dog Boy with dog on his lap in a quiet interior scene, 19th century, Lithography Technique: Lithography on China paper, rolled-on on Paper Inscription: At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "Aus der königlich bayerischen Pinakothek zu München. Das Original Holz gemalt ist 1`1" hoch, u. 11" breit.". Date: 19th century Description: The graphic shows a boy - Moses Ter Borch - carefully delousing his dog, which is lying calmly on his lap. The scene takes place in a sparse interior, with subdued light falling from the left and softly modelling the figures. A wide-brimmed felt hat lies on a low table in the foreground; in the background is a table with an open notebook and pen. The composition is characterised by its intimate, calm atmosphere and the subtle depiction of childlike care. The lines and tonal gradation show the influence of 17th century Dutch genre painting, modelled on an original by Gerard ter Borch. Keywords: Gerard Ter Borch; Moses Ter Borch; Dutch painting; 17th century; Genre scene; Animal love; Dog; Boy; Interior; Copper engraving; Etching; Still life elements; Baroque; Family scene; Dutch realism; Child portrait; Fine lines; Book and pen; Light from the left; Print graphic; 19th century; Baroque; Interior; Germany; Size: Paper: 53,6 cm x 41,3 cm (21,1 x 16,3 in), Depiction: 36,5 cm x 28,9 cm (14,4 x 11,4 in) Condition: Rather good condition. The paper is somewhat discoloured due to its age and minimally pale foxing at the bottom. The backing is creased and the corners are bumped, with a small part of the lower right corner missing. There are some grey smudges on the sheet support, especially in the upper right corner. There is a small dark grey stain in the centre of the left margin. The print itself has a few thin creases, particularly on the left, but is otherwise intact. The print quality is well preserved, with clear lines and details. The text is fully legible and in good condition.
