Date: 1846 Description: After a painting by Moritz von Schwind (1804 Vienna - 1871 Pöcking). In different areas of the painting, four independent scenes can be seen that follow each other in time and place. The painting follows a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe from 1802 with the same title. The detail shows the lower centre of the picture, in which the protagonist Ritter Curt (also Kurt) is approached by a crowd at a market stall. Along the upper edge of the sheet one restored and one open marginal tear. The image makes a very good impression.
