Lith: v.: A. Lehmann". Date: 1817 Description: Half-length portrait of the French naval officer under Napoleon. As a loyal statesman, he voluntarily followed Napoleon into exile on St Helena for 18 months and became world-famous through the publication of his diaries from this period. The print is one of the incunabula of lithography and is listed in R. Arnim Winkler's "Die Frühzeit der deutschen Lithographie" under the number 472. Occasional pale foxing spots are recognisable. The paper is slightly soiled. Some clear traces of the adhesive on the reverse are visible in the corners. In the right half of the sheet there is an inconspicuous trace of printing or rubbing in the paper.
