A woman is sitting on a rock, holding a spindle in her hand as she spins with concentration. Next to her sits a man playing a flute. Both are dressed in simple, rustic clothing. In the foreground, sheep and a goat graze peacefully in the landscape. The composition conveys a calm, idyllic mood, emphasised by the gentle lines and the attention to detail of the animals. In the background is a wide landscape with trees and an implied building, which is possibly a church. The lighting is evenly distributed and emphasises the harmonious scene.
