Date: 1771 Description: Representative portrait of the Anglican bishop John Thomas, standing in three-quarter profile to the right. He is dressed in the splendid robes of the Order of the Garter, with a medallion and tasselled ribbon, holding a beret in his right hand and wearing a voluminous curly wig. The sitter's appearance unfolds an impressive opulence.
