Date: 1771 Description: The scene shows a group of people in front of a rural building with a thatched roof. Two people are dancing in the centre of the picture, while other figures sit or stand and watch. A musician with a flute provides the musical accompaniment. A bare tree can be seen in the background, stretching withered branches over the roof of the house. The composition uses diagonal lines to suggest movement, while the depiction of clothing and facial expressions indicates a cheerful and exuberant mood.
