K. WOLF (1901-1993), Landscape around Lake Chiemsee, 1931, Watercolor Karl Wolf (1901 Munich - 1993 ): Landscape around Lake Chiemsee, 1931, Watercolor Technique: Watercolor on Paper Catalogue Raisonné: , 118-A-1931-7 Stamp: Estate stamp, Nachlass Karl Wolf. Date: 1931 Description: The artwork depicts a vast, tranquil landscape with a lake in the foreground surrounded by rolling green hills and a series of bluish mountains in the background. The composition is aligned horizontally, which emphasises the vastness of the space. Two small, reddish buildings are placed on the shore, their reflections breaking the smooth surface of the water. The colour palette is restrained, with a focus on various shades of green, complemented by blue and red accents. The atmosphere is calm and serene, with no human figures or animals. The sky is a pale yellow-green, giving the scene a dreamy quality. The technique suggests a print, possibly a woodcut. Provenance: From the estate of the artist.
