"Esquisses faites par le Baron Edmond de Bretenières feudant les voyages en Suisse" (Sketches made by Baron Edmond de Bretenieres during his travels in Switzerland). The drawing shows a rural building in an alpine landscape. The two-storey house, probably a farmhouse, is made of wood and stone, with a distinctive pitched roof and several windows. A staircase leads to a small balcony on the first floor. The surrounding area is lined with trees, and there are some logs in the foreground, emphasising the rural and artisanal feel. A person can be recognised near a path, adding narrative depth to the scene.
