Die kompakte Leselampe arbeitet mit Niederspannung, ein im Sockel eingebauter Transformator setzt die Netzspannung auf wenige Volt herab und speist eine kleine Glühbirne mit Bajonettsockel. In den Vereinigten Staaten trat sie auf dem damals neuen Markt der Hochleistungs-Leselampen als Konkurrenzmodell der Tensor-Lampe auf. Gebaut wurde das Modell bis in die späten 1980er Jahre von mehreren Firmen, in der Bundesrepublik von den Eichhoff-Werken, die seit 1931 elektrotechnische Erzeugnisse fertigten, daneben unter anderem in Japan und den Niederlanden. Arm und Leuchtenkopf lassen sich platzsparend in den Fuß einschieben, so dass die Schreibtischlampe auch als Reiseleuchte mitgenommen werden kann.
