Lot of five violins, inscribed "Rudolf Seifert 1923", brand stamp "Stainer", label "Rossi" Wood, varnished, lot of five violins, one violin inscribed by hand inside "Rudolf Seifert 1923 Oberlinka Böhmen", one violin with brand stamp "Stainer" on the back, one violin with printed label in Fraktur script inside "Lorentz Bernhart Mayer. Anno 1750", one violin with label inside "Rossi Guiseppe da Citadella (Padova)", all with scroll and pegs, one- and two-piece backs in red-brown, honey yellow, medium brown and dark brown, in need of restoration, in part many missing parts (bridges, fingerboards, tailpieces, strings) Schönbach in Bohemia, today's Luby, was a centre of violin making from the time of Elias Placht, whose workshops supplied trade violins for the whole of Europe. On the trade violins from Markneukirchen and the Vogtland, the brand stamp "Stainer" denotes the model after Jacob Stainer (circa 1618 to 1683) of Absam near Innsbruck, whose highly arched violins were copied throughout Europe in the 18th century; the stamp is a model designation, not a maker's mark. Giuseppe Rossi (1869 to 1954), born in Florence and based in Cittadella near Padua, later in Rome, belonged to the Roman school of violin making and built more than 600 instruments. As factory and student violins, the instruments are restoration projects for the violin maker.
