H. Rieder, centrepiece, stone bowl with bronze female nude Dame mit Muschel, probably circa 1900 Stone and bronze, centrepiece with figure by Hans Rieder, signed "H. Rieder" on the reverse of the plinth, round, shallow stone bowl with raised, moulded rim, grey-brown with light veining, on three black block feet, stepped black base in the centre, mounted thereon the bronze figure "Dame mit Muschel" with gold-coloured patina, standing female nude with pinned-up hair, the shell held to the mouth in the right hand, the left arm angled away from the body, on a naturalistically modelled plinth, probably circa 1900, good condition commensurate with age, lower stone edge chipped, H. figure 18 cm, 24x25.5x25.5 cm (HxWxD). Hans Rieder was a German sculptor active from circa 1900 to circa 1920. His oeuvre comprises mainly small Art Nouveau sculptures, above all standing female nudes, for example with a mirror or on a sphere, which he signed on the plinth and which are mostly mounted on marble or stone bases. He also created a pair of fencers and a worker with a hammer. The centrepiece combines such a small sculpture with a shallow stone bowl on three feet.
